Tiny Dead Trees

One day I decided to pull some stray flowers out of my lawn. The flowers were Alyssum, a tiny border/ground cover plant that has a multitude of tiny little flowers covering relatively small bushes of, err, shrubbery.

I figured I could hang the pulled plants by the roots, dry them out and use the tiny flowers on my bases. After the plants had dried out sufficiently, I noticed that the roots became hard wood and looked incredibly like tiny little dead trees.
Woohoo.

I brushed off the excess soil with my large drybrushing brush and trimmed the roots off where they joined the bushy part of the plant. then all you have to do is trim off any excess rootage and putty them to your base. Prime. Undercoat in black. Drybrush in various greys then white.

Voila!

Tiny Dead Trees.
