~Painting Sultry Female Eyes~

I have to apologise for the state of the photos, I thought taking them at the worktable would be good enough. It isn't. Next time I paint some sultry eyes I will update the photos with better ones.

Step 1:

Grab your fine detail brush and black ink. You might also want to grab your miniature at this point in time, otherwise you may get confused rather quickly.

Most miniatures will have the eye socket sculpted onto the miniature, I'm using Hasslefree's Gayle as an example, because it's a good one... basically.

Using your fine detail brush, fill in the entire eye section. Any bleeding or messes can be cleaned up with the flesh colour, or you could paint the eyes before you paint the flesh, it's entirely up to you.

Step 2:

This step is what makes the eyes 'sultry' as opposed to just your bog-standard, regular eyes.

Using the fine detail brush, you want to outline the top edge of the eye socket, as though you are painting on eyeliner. Right about now some of you males are probably sitting there thinking, "How the hell do you paint on eyeliner?". Just pull some of the magazines out from under your mattress and do some research.

At the outer corner of the eye you want to curve the 'eyeliner' up a little. You can see how I've done this in the zoomed in shot.

Step 3:
Now we colour in the eyeball itself by using a creamy colour. I used a mix of Elf Flesh and that bone colour whose name eludes me at the present moment.

Basically just ignore the eyeliner you just painted in step two and concentrate on the sculpt-line of the actual eye socket. Fill in the eyeball bit with your creamy colour carefully.

You should be left with a thin black line along the bottom of the eye and a thicker black line on the upper lid.

Just remember you only want to fill in the actual sculpted eyeball, don't paint over your eyeliner, or you'll just defeat the entire purpose of painting it in the first place.

Step 4:
Ok now that we have an eyeball, we need to paint the iris. I went with a dark emerald green colour, since I will probably be painting Gayle's hair orangey.

Carefully make a tiny circle where you want her iris located. Remember to leave whites of the eye on either side if her iris is to be in the middle. If she's looking to the side you may not need whites on both sides.
